{"id":101,"date":"2009-06-16T15:47:01","date_gmt":"2009-06-16T15:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stemflowers.wordpress.com\/?p=101"},"modified":"2009-06-16T15:47:01","modified_gmt":"2009-06-16T15:47:01","slug":"fun-at-the-flower-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stemflowers.co.uk\/blog\/fun-at-the-flower-market\/","title":{"rendered":"fun at the flower market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">I spent a busy and really exciting morning at New Covent Garden Market last week for a Summer Wedding Flower extravaganza.\u00a0 There was a smorgasbord of floral designers, demonstrations, music, discussion, networking and excellent bacon sandwiches!<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-100    alignleft\" title=\"English flowers from Country Roses\" src=\"http:\/\/stemflowers.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/english-flowers-from-josselyns-farm1.jpg\" alt=\"Flowers from Country Roses at Josselyns Fard\" width=\"145\" height=\"307\" \/>Most exciting of all was the wonderful news that I can now buy fabulously romantic David Austin roses (based near Wolverhampton) and a wonderful array of roses and\u00a0hedgerow flowers and foliage from Country Roses (near Colchester).\u00a0 Hooray for British flowers!  They might be a bit more expensive<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-108   alignright\" title=\"David Austin roses\" src=\"http:\/\/stemflowers.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/david-austin-roses2.jpg\" alt=\"Roses from David Austin\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" \/>  per stem but they are so completely gorgeous that I hope my clients will see that they are worth it.  I was also really pleased to see that my fantastic wholesalers, GB Foliage, continue to have a really magnificent array of seasonal English foliage for me to choose from.\u00a0 Their stand is like a lush forest of green at the moment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">There were some other fantastic displays to gawp at.\u00a0 Most<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-117\" title=\"Hanging balls of flowers at Moyses Stevens\" src=\"http:\/\/stemflowers.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/hanging-balls-of-flowers-at-moyses-stevens.jpg\" alt=\"Hanging balls of flowers at Moyses Stevens\" width=\"140\" height=\"187\" \/> striking were the hanging balls of flowers by Moyses Stevens.\u00a0 I think that there should be more space in the world for floral spheres.\u00a0 Rebel Rebel were as cool as ever with (rather handsome) DJs and strawberries hanging delicately from wires and Zita Elze focussed on extremely detailed, intricate garlands for chairs and tables.\u00a0 Strong deep jewel colours continue to be a strong theme (thank goodness) as do block colours and lots of foliage.\u00a0 Bring on those leaves!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Visiting the market is a really vibrant experience, which is why I love taking brides and grooms (in particular) there when they\u2019re choosing their flowers .\u00a0 These seasonal events are a delightful way to spend a morning \u2013 and you don\u2019t have to be trade to go.\u00a0 Keep an eye on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newcoventgardenmarket.com\/\">www.newcoventgardenmarket\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0for the next one&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I spent a busy and really exciting morning at New Covent Garden Market last week for a Summer Wedding Flower extravaganza.\u00a0 There was a smorgasbord of floral designers, demonstrations, music, discussion, networking and excellent bacon sandwiches!
